It’s a system commonly used on powerful inboard engines and increasingly on top of the range outboard engines of 200hp or more. Drive by wire or DbW technology in the automotive industry is the use of electrical or electro-mechanical systems for performing vehicle functions traditionally achieved by mechanical linkages.
